Travel time is 10 min (departures from Mahogany Bay) and 35 min (from Coxen Hole).

We had pre-booked a tour, so we did have to say a nice polite “no thank you” a few times. These people have to work hard to scrape a living together on this island, so I totally respect what they are doing. While this area is convenient for cruise passengers, it does mean that many visitors don’t really see the “real” Roatan, as they will remain in this area. Coxen Hole is actually only about 5 miles (7km) from Mahogany Bay. So if there are ships at both ports you can expect the area to be busy.

Mahogany Bay terminal is located east of Roatan Airport, in an area fka Dixon Bay. This is Roatan's new cruise ship terminal (inaugurated in 2009) that spreads over 20 acres (0,03 mi2 / 0,08 km2) of land. The project's cost (including the terminal building) was USD 62 million. Roatan is Honduras' main cruise ship, scuba diving and eco-tourism travel destination.
The piers and terminal can get busy and crowded at times with over 8,000 excited passengers ready to explore the welcome center and isle of Roatan. As you exit the pier you will be guided through a duty-free shop. The shop sells a variety of items including beach necessities such as water shoes and sunscreen as well as popular duty-free things.
